DevOps Engineer (Operating Systems Programmer Analyst 2), UCP 7, REVISED/REPOST


University of Connecticut Information Technology Services is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and highly skilled individual in the field of middleware development. This individual provides complex technical support including analysis, design, implementation, documentation, and problem solving in support of the University's compute and identity management architecture.

This position is intended for individuals with experience with programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or PHP as well as experience with server management scripting.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides technical expertise and computer programming skills.
  • Develops custom programs and scripts to assist with integration and automation of enterprise systems.
  • Contributes to team research and the selection of emerging technologies used to enhance the server support
  • Implements and maintains new protocols and solutions
  • Integrates data for use between various applications
  • Participates effectively on technical projects
  • Consults with and supports end users
  • Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years of technical experience will substitute for a bachelor's degree
  2. A minimum of two years of technical work experience in a computer related field with an emphasis on programming experience using Python, PHP, or practical scripting experience using Windows PowerShell.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Developer operations experience, for example, automation across distributed infrastructure/systems
  2. Experience in deploying highly available and robust infrastructure
  3. Ability to access, analyze, and manipulate data using SQL
  4. Administration experience with key technologies, including Active Directory, OpenLDAP, CAS, Kerberos, and Shibboleth.
  5. Experience with git repositories for development, staging, and test
  6. Experience building tools using a mix of Python, PHP, and C
  7. Experience with the RedHat Enterprise Linux platform
  8. Experience with Windows server systems
  9. Unix shell expertise
