Responsible for evaluating and designing transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs.

 

 

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research and analyze freight costs and classifications, delivery methods and delivery schedules for the most efficient and lowest cost delivery to meet customer requirements.

• Negotiate vendor contracts within established guidelines, referring contracts outside of guidelines to next higher level of authority.

• Monitor vendor performance and resolve vendor performance issues through negotiation or by termination and replacement.

• Schedule daily shipments to customers both within and without the state; combining delivery loads to minimize partial load deliveries.

• Resolve issues with lost or damaged shipments by arranging for replacements or appropriate credits within established limits, referring exceptional resolutions to the next higher level of authority.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of shipments.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

 

 

• Associate’s degree in transporation, logistics, or related field, or equivalent knowledge, skills and ability
• Five years or more negotiating vendor contracts
• Five years or more scheduling shipments
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
