Instructor, Graphic Technologies

Position Description:

The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Technology seeks applications for two full-time, three-year renewable term appointments as Instructor, Graphic Technologies (GT), beginning August 2017. This position is responsible for coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom and laboratory instruction and related activities for undergraduate courses in GT. Additional responsibilities include undergraduate advising, strategic planning, providing service to the program, and other duties as assigned by the department head.

Education Requirements:

Earned master's degree from accredited university in graphic communications / technology or closely related field required.

Required Qualifications:

Evidence of previous successful teaching and course development experience in lab-intensive graphics and printing technology programs with focus on digital and graphic communications management required. Additional requirements include demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching with student-centered engaged learning approach; effective communication, computer, and software application skills; and the ability to teach in at least three of the following areas: Digital Imaging, Digital Illustration, Page Layout, Web Development, Interactive Media, Estimating and Project Management, or Traditional Printing Production Techniques.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with a record of academic excellence in teaching undergraduate courses; industry experience in graphic communications and digital media; background in outreach activities involving industry and community colleges; experience in preparing accreditation documents for undergraduate programs; and experience with online course management systems.
