Degree and area of specialization:

DVM (or equivalent) required; MS or PhD desired. Preference will be given to those candidates whose clinical and research interests include both equine and bovine animals. Aptitude and/or experience in clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents preferred but not required. Distribution of effort in the section and the Department will be determined in accordance with service needs, academic priorities and the candidate's expertise and academic goals. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all sections of the hospital and department.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Academic experience beyond residency or graduate student training preferred, but not required.

License or Certificate:

Must be eligible to obtain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Wisconsin.

Position Summary:

The Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical track, full-time, 12-month position within the Theriogenology and Food Animal Production Medicine Sections of the Department. The successful candidate will join a department with one other theriogenologist, four dairy production medicine faculty and four large animal internists. This is an exciting opportunity for a faculty member to collaborate within a congenial, team-oriented group.

Faculty in the clinical track at the University of Wisconsin are expected to participate in clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students and residents, continuing education programs, and to conduct basic science or clinical research that advances academic clinical practice. Campus has excellent opportunities for research and collaboration with reproductive specialists in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the campus-wide Endocrinology and Reproductive Physiology Program. The successful candidate will participate in the instruction of our DVM students, residents and graduate students ? largely through the final year Theriogenology and Production Medicine rotations. They will also have the opportunity to provide clinical theriogenology services in the hospital to suit the experience of the applicant and their expertise and interest. Clinical, outreach and teaching opportunities outside the hospital also exist, especially with the Wisconsin dairy industry.
