Position/Job Summary

Tuesday - Saturday position to perform a variety of skilled tasks involved in building maintenance and repair. Participate in providing electrical, mechanical, structural, heating ventilating & air-conditioning ( HVAC ) and preventive maintenance of campus facilities, systems, and equipment to ensure efficient and continuous operation. Maintain building and equipment records and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and procedures pertaining to the facilities operation. This position is considered to be essential during emergency situations and the incumbent is subject to being requested to report to work. The incumbent is subject to being on-call twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week on a scheduled basis.

Position/Job Responsibilities

1. Maintain and repair pneumatic and electrical controls, refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment, chillers, window and central air conditioning units, refrigeration systems, forced air heating and ventilation systems, and pumps.

2. Use hand and power tools; maintain established standards and calibrations on all related equipment.

3. Read and follow basic schematics and blueprints as directed.

4. Maintain and repair of kitchen equipment including stoves, refrigerators, microwaves and dishwashers.

5. Participate in establishing and maintaining a schedule of preventive maintenance.

6. Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment; participate in making minor repairs to keep equipment operational; inform supervisor of all equipment needing major repair work.

7. Use a Tablet to review service requests from the computerized service request system and update the request as needed.

8. Assist in ensuring security of vehicles, tools and other equipment.

9. Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area. Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the campus community.

10. Establish a Professional Development plan; participate in workshops, seminars, training sessions and staff meetings as directed.

11. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned and respond to calls for service, before, during, and after normal business hours as requested.

Position/Job Qualifications

High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years or 6,000 hours experience in at least one skilled area and the ability to read and follow basic schematics or blue prints and perform minor installation and repair. Knowledge of welding, repair of electronic devices, refrigeration and air conditioning techniques and repair of mechanical systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the ability to lift and carry 80 lbs. Experience and ability to operate a variety of power/hand tools and testing devices, a valid NYS Driver's License, and the ability to respond to calls twenty four hours per day seven days per week is required. . The incumbent will be required to carry a pager on a rotating basis.
