POOL - Lecturer, Aerospace Engineering



Position Overview

The Aerospace Department at the University of Kansas invites qualified scholars and professionals to submit online applications to the Lecturer Pool to be considered for either part-time or full-time (regular or temporary) teaching positions as needs are identified.

The dates of appointment will vary as needs are identified and coincide with the beginning of the academic semester.

Appointments are one semester, renewable, subject to review and funding. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.

Job Description

20%-Teach graduate and/or undergraduate classes in Aerospace Engineering.

20%-Plan and organize the course, prepare the syllabus.

20%-Provide instruction throughout the semester, usually 3 hours/week per course.

20%-Develop assignments, administer test, evaluate student course work, provide feedback to students and assign grades.

10%-Keeping office hours (3 hours per week).

10%-Lecturers of graduate courses may assume limited advising duties or assist with thesis as arranged with the department chair.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related scientific discipline.
  • 1 to 4 years teaching experience in Aerospace Engineering or closely related scientific discipline OR a combination of a BS in a related scientific discipline and 1 to 4 years of work experience in a related field.


  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching the specific course of interest.
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering
