Multimedia Producer/Editor/Photographer



Duties & Responsibilities

Harvard Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial, and flexible multimedia producer who is skilled in the pre-production, planning, logistics, shooting, and editing of storytelling driven video and multimedia, and has experience with photojournalism/photography. This person is passionate about video, film, photography, and storytelling. Creating videos and making photos is your passion in and outside of the office.

The Multimedia Producer assists in the creation of multimedia projects, working with the Senior Multimedia Producer in support of Harvard's alumni and donor-focused priorities and projects, including multimedia slideshows, event photography, asset management, and additional duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate has a strong desire to work on a team of creative professionals and be able to work individually as needed. This person will be organized and proactive, and have excellent attention to detail, working both quickly and creatively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conceive, pitch, develop, and shoot storytelling-driven videos geared towards alumni and donor relations priorities.
• Think creatively to produce videos and slideshows that steward and engage donors and alumni
• Digest, tag, and edit b-roll and interviews
• Transcribe interviews
• Shoot, edit and prepare event photography for online galleries and slideshows.
• Creates video content that engages audiences and inspires sharing across social media platforms.
• Conversant and experienced in producing content for social media
• Edit audio-only packages for the web
• Manages media assets, backups, archives with Digital Assessment Management system and maintains other storage solutions for media projects.
• Excellent content judgment and ability to verbalize rationale
• Ability to brainstorm and self-generate ideas
• Must be able to work on multiple projects and complete high-quality work against strict and conflicting deadlines that are dictated by clients and management.
• Assists in the management and booking of freelancers for additional video and photo needs.
• Oversees storage and cataloging of videos produced by outside vendors
• Helps with video equipment purchases, upgrades, and maintenance, and assists in making recommendations based on the needs of the team and emerging trends in digital media.
• Advises on branding of videos and graphic quality.
• Observes new trends in digital journalism and works to incorporate them in video content.
• A positive, collegial attitude and a high level of professionalism are essential
• The role will entail 10% travel.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in multimedia, visual journalism or broadcast production-related major required
• 2-3 years' experience shooting, editing, and producing photography and videos for broadcast, live events and/or online
• Experienced in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe Audition CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, Photo-mechanic and FTP applications

Additional Qualifications

• Working knowledge and/or familiarity with After Effects and InDesign a plus
• Interest and knowledge of producing podcasts a plus.
• Knowledge and experience working with DSLR cameras and lenses, progressional audio recording equipment (on camera and secondary equipment for DSLRS), handheld vs tripod videography, three point lighting for interviews and other video scenarios.
• Ability to work on deadline, including last minute requests.
• Ability to work creatively and effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to provide and receive creative direction and feedback.
• Aptitude for thinking big, working wisely and quickly iterating.
• Sense of humor appreciated
