About the College/Department
The department of University Recreation exists under the College of Education and Health Professions to engage and enhance the University of Arkansas community through diverse recreational, social, and wellness opportunities. As a result, the University Recreation department performs a vital role in the recruitment, retention, and education of students and personnel.

Summary of Job Duties
The Graduate Assistant of Fitness Wellness reports to the Assistant Director for Fitness Wellness.
This position will assist with the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of the group fitness, personal training, small group training, and inclusive recreation employees.
Program responsibilities include:
- Assist with the management of a comprehensive schedule of group fitness programs, including cardio, strength, cycling, aqua fitness, dance, and mind/body classes
- Oversee daily operations of fitness programs, including registration, attendance records, and equipment/facility upkeep
- Lead staff meetings and instruct the ACE Personal Training and/or Group Fitness Prep Course on a semester basis
- Ensure up-to-date techniques and customer service to program clients, including special populations
- Perform outreach fitness, wellness, and educational services to the University community through classes, seminars and special events
- Assist in the development, marketing, coordination, and evaluation of programs and special events
- Assist as needed in collaborative department programming efforts; assist in student personnel and training programs; budget management, equipment purchase and inventory; risk management and program evaluation
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
- Minimum 3.0 grade point average
- Admission to the College of Education and Health Professions graduate degree program
- Satisfactory completion of the GRE prior to employment with the department of University Recreation
- Knowledge and successful experience with campus recreation, fitness programs, and fitness facilities is required

- Current personal training and/or group fitness certification from an accredited fitness organization such as ACE , ACSM , NSCA , and NASM
