Sports Nutritionist - Athletics

Deadline: Open until filled

Pay Grade: 30E

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Direct all services associated with student-athlete sports nutrition health, wellness, and performance needs. Oversee individual meal planning, consult with student-athletes regarding any medical conditions associated with nutritional deficits, educate athletes on supplement usage, educate athletes on NCAA banned substances, be the lead on food services within athletic, act as close colleague to team physicians, athletic trainers, and strength coaches related to student athlete injuries, illnesses, or nutritional aspects to enhance overall performance and global health.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Consult with student-athletes regarding nutritional needs
  • Educate athletes and coaches on best practices related to nutrition, hydration, supplement usage, and health concerns related.
  • Work closely with Sports Performance team and doctors to create holistic approach to healthcare regarding injury prevention, management, treatment, and overall performance and health.
  • Lead initiative to incorporate food within athletics for student athletes
  • Work closely with team physicians and campus healthcare providers related to medical issues where nutrition intervention is recommended.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics or related field
  • 3-5 years in collegiate athletic setting as sports nutritionist
  • Knowledge of NCAA policies, rules, and regulation regarding health and wellness
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) certification at time of hire or within one year of employment
  • State licensed at time of hire or eligible for licensure
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience as a Head or Director of Sports Nutrition services preferred.
