The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) within the College of Education and Human Development is a diversified Department with undergraduate and graduate programs that require a close working relationship with the State of Delaware, Federal Agencies, local school systems, and numerous Health and Service agencies

The Department houses the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood which supports the workforce and programming services for children aged six weeks to twelve years of age in early care and education; the quality-assured Professional Development for child-care programs; the Nemours Healthy Kids project; and the Delaware Stars for Early Success Program.

The Environmental Rating Scale Assessor works under the general direction of the Director of the Delaware Stars for Early Success and the Senior Environment Rating Scale Assessor.

This position is a full-time grant-funded position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts Environment Rating Scale assessments of early childhood programs, prepares Environment Rating Scale score sheets and profiles, completes assessment forms and performs data entry. Analyzes complex data and interprets results and communicates findings to program coordinators.

Makes public trainings and presentations to technical assistants and program staff about Environment Rating Scale assessments.

Independently coordinates, modifies and adapts program assessment techniques.

Supervises hourly staff that assist with program assessments to ensure reliability of observations and provides assessors with related training and support.

Monitors data entry and maintains database.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related discipline with two years of directly responsible job-related experience.

Knowledge of child development, early care and education environments, as well as knowledge of more than one Environment Rating Scale tools.

Must be detail oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office work processing and database software.

Effective communication skills with ability to interact with a wide range of constituents.
