Summary of Job Duties
The UREC Outdoors Intern will be responsible for the equipment rental center, climbing facilities, field-based programs, freshman orientation programs, bike shop, administrative reporting, and other departmental and program operations.
Maturity, dependability, and patience are strong characteristics and attributes that are a necessity for the job.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a for-credit academic internship course during the time of employment


Does this job require any license(s)/certification(s)?
Yes

If yes, please specify
First Aid Certification + CPR Certification + AED Certifications or the ability to obtain certifications within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Climbing facility and outdoor climbing experience
  • Bike mechanic skill set
  • Current Wilderness First Aid or First Responder
  • Related certifications from organizations such as ACA , LNT , WEA , PCIA , and AMGA


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Working knowledge of outdoor, water, and sporting equipment
  • Working knowledge of cash register and ability to produce daily reports
  • Knowledge and familiarity with hiking, paddling, cycling, and climbing skills
  • Ability to work at heights, while checking holds and setting routes
  • Ability to maintain communication with individual and group participants
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce all the University's policies and procedures
  • Ability to work well with fellow employees and to communicate with the University's community and general public and to display a positive attitude while working
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds of weight
