Position/Job Summary
Passionate about good design and picky about the execution? We are looking for experienced designers to join our Creative Strategy and Development team within the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications. You will work on projects that span brand identity, website, print, packaging, display, and social media. If you're a creative thinker with an elevated sense of design, color, and typography and you have built a strong visual portfolio, you'll fit right in.
The successful candidate will work as a member of the Creative Strategy and Development team within the Office of Marketing Communications to produce fully integrated visual communications for internal and external audiences in support of the college's brand identity. Collaborate with various constituencies to visually convey messages and ensure all designs follow the College brand and graphic identity standards. Design for a variety of communication vehicles and channels, including magazines, recruitment materials, brochures, booklets, websites, email templates and newsletters, advertisements, display and other promotional-related projects.
Position/Job Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with Assistant Director of Design, the Director of Creative Strategy and Development and the creative team as a cross-platform designer in support of a strong, consistent brand identity.
Create designs for all mediums, including print, Web, email and promotional products for a variety of audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of the college.
Analyze, assess and respond to the visual design needs of departments and the College in alignment with mission and strategic goals of the department and College.
Implement the College's visual guidelines to maintain integrity of IC branding; develop and maintain an understanding of the latest design trends and technology and experiment with how to integrate them into the College's brand.
Conceptualize, organize, and create cost effective designs for digital and print publications within a budget, timeline and other constraints.
Prepare sketches and/or layouts; select elements for the design such as, colors, artwork, photography, animation, style of type; select the appropriate materials for the final product.
Complete print production assignments, create digital files, preflight files, and update creative design and marketing specifications.
Proofread creative design work and graphic files, distribute PDS and HTML proofs to project managers, make corrections to files before sending to press, and publish information on the web site.
Work closely with the campus Print Shop and external printing vendors to ensure the quality and intention for print designs.
Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
Position/Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the arts, graphic design or related field and a minimum of 3 years of design experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience; In-depth knowledge of design concepts, print and electronic composition, and a portfolio illustrating strong skills in conception and developing high-quality visuals that display a keen understanding of a user-centric design approach to marketing and branding in all mediums; solid working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment, the ability to articulate concepts and solutions and work well with team members; strong project management skills, experience working directly with clients and partners; results oriented, highly motivated and ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines, prioritize work, and respond to changing demands are required.
A good working knowledge of HTML , CSS , JavaScript, experience building/creating extensive visual brand guides, knowledge of education markets, experience with content management systems, and experience working with print vendors, creating files for print and attending press checks are preferred.
