Summary of Job Duties
The Marketing Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director for Marketing and Public Relations with the administration of the marketing department. The Marketing Graduate Assistant will support the Assistant Director by assisting with the execution of marketing tactics and programming, customer retention initiatives, and all department wide events.

Marketing and Media Production:
  • Assist with the systematic planning and administration of a comprehensive marketing program, including, but not limited to: video and print media productions, magazine and newsletter creation, social media outlets, website content management, and mobile app platform management
  • Coordinate with University Recreation staff to produce and publish content for departmental, university, and community publications including newsletters, newswire, and press releases.
  • Coordinate and manage external media inquiries
  • Assist with supervision and development of student employees assigned to the marketing area, including task distribution, creative guidance, and effective message creation

Special Event:
  • Plan, organize, administer, and evaluate a program of promotional and public relations events for University of Arkansas students and UREC members, including, but not limited to: open house events, information/activity fairs, and back-to-school events
  • Collaborate with other campus organizations in the administration of special events that highlight University Recreation's role as an activity provider on campus. Examples include, but are not limited to: Razorbash, Homecoming, and Cardinal Nights
  • Coordinate and administer department activities that celebrate health/recreation observations. Examples include, but are not limited to: National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day ( NIRSA )
  • Organize and administer departmental representation at fairs, orientations, and information sessions in the larger campus community
  • Maintain budgets and administer necessary purchasing and inventory
  • Maintain comprehensive records for semester and annual report
  • Facilitate the distribution of marketing materials to program areas

Other Departmental Responsibilities:
  • Other duties include, but are not limited to: assist as needed in collaborative department programming efforts; assist in student personnel and training programs; budget management, equipment purchase, and inventory; risk management and program evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education prior to July 1, 2017
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Admission to the College of Education and Health Professions graduate degree program
  • Satisfactory completion of the GRE prior to employment with the department of University Recreation
  • Prior experience in marketing and public relations
