Program Mananger, Research Trial

Pay Grade: 30E

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The program manager will work closely with the PI (M. Davey) and help to manage and run a NCI funded randomized control trial (Families Fighting Cancer Together) to help African American families who are coping with parental cancer. The project aims to help adolescents (ages 12-18) cope with parental cancer.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Train all staff in HIPAA compliant protocols, manage all paperwork for hiring, CITI trainings, payment for all staff/Co-Is, hiring of staff, payment of staff and track in log

•Activities would include managing recruitment materials, recruiting sites (Cancer Centers), supervising research assistant, part time outcome assessor, supervisor, 4 therapists in carrying out intervention trial, data collection activities, maintaining semi- complex databases to maintain study information, and communicating with recruitment sites and study personnel (e.g., data manager and nurse managed health centers to use lab space)

•Manage all IRB submission for all data collection activities and maintain IRB binders documenting study (e.g., weekly meeting minutes, number of patients recruited, number who refused and why, screening materials, consents, documenting ), and all HIPAA compliant storage of data, NIH communications; yearly reports to NIH

•Manage and store HIPAA compliant videotaping of sessions and fidelity checks of treatment adherence throughout project

•Work with data manager at UD to set up Redcap online assessments; train RAs to administer online assessments to parents/youth at baseline, 10 weeks, 6 and 12 month follow up either at family's home, cancer centers, or at DU, pay participants for assessments.

•Help to set up HIPAA compliant videotaping for all sessions and secure data storage for treatment compliance check throughout trial and in years 4, 5 fidelity coders.

•Set up all group sessions (14 FFCT groups and 14 TAU groups) which will take place at the nurse managed care clinic at Star campus, set up videotaping, pay therapists and supervisors, maintain all receipts for parking, incentives for all participants, make sure food is at each group session, watch sessions over monitor and along with PI check for fidelity.

•Act as liaison between the research team, Cancer Centers, and Co-Is.

•Manage weekly team meetings and schedule conference calls with DSMB and community advisory board.

•Manage grant budget, payment for all contractors and families and reimbursements

•Coordinate DSMB meetings and community advisory meetings twice a year.

•Assists in the development of and edits of instruments.

•Supervisor of full-time recruiter to be sure we are recruiting 4-8 families/month and ensuring four data collections are completed with one staff blind to treatment assignment

•Acts as a liaison and point of contact for participants, both program staff and families.

•Train staff in study protocols,

•Adheres to IRB and human subject research protocols in screening study participants over the phone.

•Assist in preparing reports, manuscripts, webinars and conference abstracts.

•Ensure team adherence to data security and technology security protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in family therapy or medical family therapy, or a related degree in the social and behavioral or health sciences required. Doctoral degree preferred. The applicant will also demonstrate outstanding managerial and organization skills, and have a strong interest in culturally sensitive family-oriented approaches to medical care, intervention science, and research methodology. The applicant should have experience supervising staff, managing fiscal and staff operations, and good communication skills.
