The department of University Recreation exists under the College of Education and Health Professions to engage and enhance the University of Arkansas community through diverse recreational, social, and wellness opportunities. As a result, the University Recreation department performs a vital role in the recruitment, retention, and education of students and personnel.

Summary of Job Duties
The Graduate Assistant of UREC Outdoors reports to the Assistant Director for UREC Outdoors.
This position will assist with the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of the UREC Outdoors rental center, climbing wall, bike shop, and trip leader employees. In addition, the Graduate Assistant of UREC Outdoors will maintain the climbing and bouldering wall equipment and facilities.
Additional responsibilities include: planning, developing, implementing, and supervising programs on campus as well as remote/backcountry settings. The Graduate Assistant will assist with purchasing, maintaining, and inventory of trip and rental equipment. In addition, this position is responsible for the assisting with the coordination of all UREC Outdoors programs, driving to program destinations, as well as leading weekend and extended outdoor educational trips. The Graduate Assistant will assist with program financial and participation reports as well as marking projects and assignments.
The Graduate Assistant of UREC Outdoors will assist in the development, marketing, coordination, and evaluation of programs and special events that enhance the recreational experiences of University Recreation participants. This position will identify and assist in collaborative department programming efforts. Additional duties as assigned.
This position offers $13,600 annually plus tuition waiver (fees excluded) and travel stipend (pending funding).
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Minimum 3.0 grade point average
- Admission to the College of Education and Health Professions graduate degree program
- Satisfactory completion of the GRE prior to employment with the department of University Recreation
- Prior experience in outdoor recreation program design, implementation, and evaluation

Preferred Qualifications
- Current Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid, and related certifications from organizations such as ACA , LNT , WEA , and AMGA
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge and successful experience with campus recreation, higher education, student development, climbing/cycling programs, and facilities
- Demonstrated success of written and verbal communication, customer service, and supervisory skills
