Job Description
The Website Developer is part of the University web team that provides vision, leadership, and oversight for FGCU . EDU . This position will assist in the creation and day-to-day maintenance of University websites using sound web governance practices for consistent site design and implementation of feature/functions. Faculty/staff will look to this position for guidance, inspiration and assistance, so the designer/developer must be comfortable offering guidance and implementing solutions. This position will help conceptualize, design and implement sites that elegantly deliver content and strengthen the University brand.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a computer or related field.
Two years of experience as a web developer in a professional setting.
Three years of experience in web application, development, and design.
Experience in developing standards compliant web applications, UX/UI principles and current web design standards.
Experience with responsive fluid design practices, methods, and tools including HTML , 5/CSS3, Bootstrap, JQuery, and JSON .

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on high volume publishing and higher education projects.
Experience with performance optimization.
Experience with end-user training.
Knowledge and experience with XML / XSL / XSLT , SQL , and JavaScript.
Experience with Omni update, Bootstrap design/development, PHP /MySQL ( LAMP ) and or/ JSP , WordPress theme development, plug-in creation/implementation experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Knowledge and ability using Omni Update and migrating from OpenText.
•Knowledge of accessibility standards ( ADA 508/ WCAG 2).
•Skill and ability to use PHP /MySQL ( LAMP ) and/or JSP .
•Skill and ability using WordPress theme development, plug-in creation/implementation.
•Experience working on high volume web publishing or higher education projects.
•Ability to translate business requirements, user goals and creative strategy into engaging experiences.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
•Excellent customer service skills, project management skills, and must be a self-starter that takes the initiative on projects.
•Ability to communicate in a professional and collegial manner with system users and others who may have a stake in the development of the website.
•Knowledge of development experience in client and server based scripting languages, experience developing database-driven web application using ASP or ASP . Net/C# and Web Services.
•Ability to commit to professional development in order to fully utilize existing and emerging web, database, and applications development technologies.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks, shift focus, and adjust priorities in a rapidly changing environment and to creatively solve problems.
•Ability to manage projects within established boundaries while receiving input from multiple sources.
• Ability to apply web design principles and techniques to the creation and enhancement of integrated, complex web sites.

Salary Range
$50,000 - Negotiable based on education and experience

Essential Job Duties
•Serves on the University web team and provides vision, leadership, and oversight for FGCU .edu.
•Works collaboratively to translate business requirements, user goals and creative strategy into engaging experiences.
•Translates mockup websites into valid, standards-compliant HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery.
•Designs prototype responsive designs and other interactive moments.
•Collaborates with marketing, communications and web team to create great UX.
•Provides guidance to clients and team members about best practices for building efficient, extensible, standards-based websites.
•Develops website structure that is compliant with accessibility standards.
•Develops web applications that support and solve organizational challenges.
•Provides leadership to website editors and serves as a technical contact on web-related issues including site design and development, content creation, website templates, analytics, usability and information architecture.
•Creates, designs and manages multiple complex web sites supporting the overall organization.
•Assists with the establishment of a set of integrated web policies, directions, and standards for the institution, departments, and administrative units.
•Consults with departments and end users on their web goals and development, ensuring that overall standards for appearance and usability are maintained for all web sites within area of responsibility.
•Acts as Project Manager for all major website revisions and initiatives. Works closely with marketing, communications, and web team to provide seamless process and continuous exploration of innovative ideas for web communication.
