Assistant Professor - Physician Assistant - Coudersport

Position Summary Information



Job Description Summary

Lock Haven University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in its fully accredited masters level Physician Assistant Program at the Coudersport Campus to begin on or about July 1, 2017.

Essential Duties

This position may require development and teaching of courses online.

Specific Duties
  • Faculty will be assigned to the Coudersport Campus with teaching responsibilities at other teaching locations as assigned.
  • Coordination of second year PA student clinical activities in the northern region of PA.
  • Oversee first year Coudersport Campus students.
  • Coordinate units of instruction and teach lectures within the modular based curriculum.
  • Coordinate and teach small group sessions and conduct labs for didactic phase students.
  • Assist the Coudersport Campus Coordinator with overall coordination of student activities.
  • Assure program meets/exceeds ARC Standards.
  • Assist the Program Director with management of the travel budget, coordination of clinical activities, and public relations with regional healthcare facilities for the Coudersport Campus.
  • Establish first year clinical experiences in long term care, radiology, and other settings equivalent to those provided to main campus students.
  • Participate or lead committees within the department of Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Coordinate program modules as specified in current program policies.
  • Participate and coordinate distance learning activities between various locations.
  • Develop and administer examinations and other evaluation tools.
  • Participate in the design, development, implementation, teaching and evaluation of didactic and clinical year activities.
  • Assist the Program Director in program development and evaluation.
  • Teach program classes consistent with areas of expertise.
  • Perform duties as a student faculty advisor for first and second year PA students.
  • Perform site visitations.
  • Supervise student activities in community outreach projects.
  • Maintain a minimum of 5 posted office hours per week as specified in the APSCUF contract.
  • Participate in professional and/or civic activities at the local, state, or national level.
  • Maintain NCCPA certification.
  • Participate in program and other university committees.

Minimum Qualifications

(Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)


Masters degree or higher as a physician assistant or in a health related discipline.

Must have a current NCCPA certification (or board eligibility in a related field) as well as eligibility to practice within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration.

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations ( FBI ) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional for a single 90 day period provided the "Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form" and verification of your application for the three background checks are returned to Deana Hill, Associate VP for Human Resources.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

The Lock Haven University's Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university. The policy statements address the university's policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, i.e. policies for responding to emergency situations, fire safety procedures and statistics, and sexual offenses, etc. Three years' worth of statistics is included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in on-campus buildings, or off-campus sites property owned or controlled by the university and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to the campus.
