Lead Customer Service Assistant - Catering

Tufts Dining is a self-operated food service provider managing a comprehensive collegiate food service program on the Tufts University Medford-Somerville campus delivering high quality, contemporary and innovative food and hospitality services to meet the various needs of students, faculty, staff and visitors in a fiscally responsible manner. Our team operates a progressive resident dining program for approximately 4000 students as well as responsive retail services and a distinctive university catering program serving the campus community totaling 5100 undergraduates, 1700 graduate students, and 2300 faculty, staff and administrators.

The Lead CSA will be primarily responsible for reading and understanding events sheets and coordinating the work of and working with servers, bartenders, stewards and other Unit employees to organize, prepare, pack, deliver, set-up, serve and clean up, food, beverages, supplies and equipment for catered events scheduled throughout campus. The Lead CSA will assist management with the ongoing training and coaching of catering employees on service techniques and catering procedures and will supervise the execution of assigned catered functions and staff. The Lead CSA will also be responsible for providing service to customers in a variety of ways including, but not limited to; driving University vehicles to deliver orders, setting up and serving buffets and plated meals, preparing and presenting foods for service, setting up bar service and bartending, stocking products, supplies and equipment and general cleaning and housekeeping of event sites and the Distribution Center. The Lead CSA will be responsible for proper cash handling and accurately accounting for all cash transactions as needed and proper equipment handling and accurately accounting for and caring for all catering equipment. The Lead CSA will be very comfortable with a high volume of customer contact and be able to deliver discrete and professional VIP service.



Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
1 year of catering experience is required
Must have a valid MA driver s license and comfort in driving a van or 10' box truck
Must speak, read and understand English.
Must have experience as a server, bartender, and/or off-site caterer is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED preferred.
Experience as a Banquet Captain and/or with the coordination and supervision of set-up and service for high end dining or catering is preferred.
Some cash handling experience is a plus.
