COUNSEL, Office of the General Counsel, to provide advice on a wide range of legal issues facing a premier research university relating to real estate and business affairs.

The OGC is MIT's law office. Its responsibility is to provide the best independent advice in the interest of MIT. OGC lawyers are both specialists and generalists who work independently but collaboratively in the collegial team environment of a fast-paced law office serving a research university renowned for creativity, innovation, and bold risk taking. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least ten years of relevant experience. J.D. degree and admission to the Massachusetts' Bar Association (MBA) are required, although those who have been admitted to another state's bar but are able to promptly gain admission to the MBA will be considered. Seek a highly versatile lawyer with excellent oral and written communication skills and an excellent academic record. Sophisticated law firm training is highly desired. Some experience in a public, nonprofit, or commercial in-house setting is preferred. Knowledge of the general laws affecting institutions of higher education is also preferred. Job #13230-R
