Financial Assistant II

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT II, Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS), to assist with proposal development and submission of grant and contract proposals for sponsored projects. Will conduct financial review for research/general accounts and monitor expenditures for compliance with sponsor requirements; maintain account information; prepare monthly reports for principal investigators (PIs); prepare journal vouchers and internal billing; assist research staff, students, administrative assistants, and faculty with fiscal problems; interact with PIs, research staff, and other MIT departments on fiscal matters; handle salary reconciliation for research projects; monitor and reconcile MIT and LNS outstanding commitments; process research account closeouts; and assist financial officers with special projects as needed.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of three years' experience in accounting/finance; excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; and proven ability to work with minimal supervision. Seek a self-motivated and detail- and customer service-oriented individual who is able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Must be willing to assume new responsibilities as needed. Database management, SAP, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word experience highly desirable; as is familiarity with MIT's financial procedures and practices. Job #13324-5
