Position Summary:
A postdoctoral position is available beginning August 15, 2016 in the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA for an individual interested in ongoing studies focused on the metabolic regulation of reproduction in cattle. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in animals sciences or a related field with an emphasis in reproductive physiology. Expertise in applied reproductive technologies including palpation and ultrasonography of the reproductive tract in cattle or other large animal species is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience conducting ovarian follicle aspiration and oocyte or embryo manipulation. Strong emphasis will be placed on understanding the implications of basic and applied research aimed at improving reproductive performance. The candidate is expected to to demonstrate capacity for critical scientific thinking, creativity, excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask. The individual will be expected to design and conduct experiments, perform sample/data analysis, present research results at conferences, train students, assist with preparation of grant proposals and write manuscripts for publication.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in animal sciences or a related area with an emphasis in reproductive physiology and must have expertise in molecular biology and cell culture.Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in applied reproductive technologies in cattle.
