Required Qualifications: High School diploma/GED. Two years full time related office experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to lift medical records (typically weighing 5-15 lbs.)

Preferred Qualifications: Additional years of clerical experience in a medical center, office or health-related setting. Knowledge of computer systems including IDX and Citrix or comparable systems. Ability to multi-task. Excellent phone manner. Knowledge of proper grammar and spelling. Ability to proofread.

Brief Description of Duties: The Secretary II position will:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of administrative office including office coverage, schedule meetings, keep calendars, and assist office visitors.
  • Type and file medical and general correspondence.
  • Answer telephone and handle inquiries as assigned.
  • Retrieve and prepare medical records for patient appointments.
  • Obtain prior authorization for medical tests and medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Handle travel arrangements for physicians attending conferences, including hotel and airline reservations.


Other Duties: As assigned.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
