Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics in the area of Condensed Matter Theory.
Preferred Qualifications: Expert on first principles methods, both development and applications. Density functional theory and electronic transport. Programming experience and experience in the use of SIESTA and TransSiesta. Experience in the use of molecular dynamics.
Brief Description of Duties: The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
- Develop a new method to study the metal/liquid interface in the presence of an external electric field.
- Implement the method in the program SIESTA.
- Study how charged interfaces modify the structural and dynamical properties of interfacial water utilizing the method.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature research.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Occasional travel to scientific conferences may be required.
