The George Mason University, School of Management (SOM) has an opening for the Assistant Director for Academic Services in the Office of Academic and Career Services.

The vision of the Office of Academic and Career Services is to provide regular, frequent, proactive and integrated services that address the academic and career needs of SOM students.

The successful candidate will coordinate academic advising, supervise the advising staff for all SOM undergraduate students, coordinate office policies and procedures, and report to the Assistant Dean. The incumbent will design, develop, implement and assess programs that promote student skill development appropriate to the academic, career and life goals of our students. The Assistant Director will supervise four advisors responsible for the academic advising and student development of over 3,000 undergraduates.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Assistant Dean, faculty, advisors and other university services to administer policies, create proactive student development programs, advise undergraduate students and maintain a professional development program for the advisors. The Assistant Director will consult with faculty and staff on student issues, make academic action decisions on student requests for exceptions, and make referrals to other university offices when necessary.

Qualified candidates must possess a master's degree in higher education administration or a related field, substantially related progressively responsible experience, or equivalent training and experience; supervision experience preferred. Proven ability to plan and implement programs and activities also preferred. Exceptional organizational, analytic, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
