Child Welfare Trainer

Child Welfare Trainer, Child Welfare Initiative, Social Work **Revised**
This position is an initiative of the Child Welfare Initiative, a partnership between the UTC Social Work Department and the TN Center for Child Welfare that is responsible for the delivery of a highly interactive Resource Parent Training program and DCS (Department of Children s Services) Personnel Training program providing mandatory training for foster parents, adoptive parents, and other caregivers for children in the DCS system.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering PATH (Parents As Tender Healers) resource parent training as assigned
Collaborating with Training Team Leader related to modification of training delivery methods or training content
Providing technical assistance and In-Service training to DCS personnel
Performing other duties as assigned by Training Team Leader.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor s degree in Social Work or related degree with child welfare experience required, Master s in Social Work preferred.
Previous training experience and knowledge of current child welfare practices is a plus.
Must be available on week nights and Saturdays for training of resource parents.
Must be willing to travel and attend professional development opportunities offered by DCS.
Must be competent in the use of multimedia equipment: VCR, LCD projector, DVD, laptop.
Requires skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, crisis management, team/group dynamics, and presentations/public speaking.
Trainers must be able to function as a positive and productive member of a professional training team in a high-energy environment.
