Director of Alumni Outreach and Programs

The Director of Alumni and Outreach Programs will develop dynamic and engaged relationships with individuals and constituencies in and out of the institution. This position will creatively drive relationship building through communication and programming with alumni and students, faculty and staff, donors and vendors. This position is responsible for the primary design of the Alumni Relations program in order to provide value-added services to alumni in exchange for their increased interest and involvement in NLU and its priority activities, including: enrollment, career placement, student mentoring, Alumni giving, and continuing education activities.

Specific duties will include: Provide administrative leadership to NLU in tracking, cultivating, and interacting with its alumni; Create, plan, and manage events for targeted groups of alumni and friends; Develop and direct all Annual Fund efforts with an annual fiscal goal, leading comprehensive projects via direct mail and e-Giving vehicles. Solicit all annual fund donors and works with the Associate Director of Advancement Services to ensure stewardship of gifts; Represent the university and promote its strategic plan/administrative priorities to the Alumni population through personal contacts, publications, and print/electronic communications; Work with deans and other leadership members to create regular and consistent messaging and interactions that address alumni interests and establish an interactive communication plan and partnership in concert with the three colleges and university services to embed alumni relations into their activities and create a framework for volunteerism, career development, and student mentoring, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with the needs, characteristics, and interests of non-traditional students. Knowledgeable about current trends in effective alumni relations programming; and especially among colleges/universities serving non-traditional populations. Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic plans and has excellent writing, research and presentation skills. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required as well as Banner experience a plus. This position will need to utilize and engage cutting-edge technologies and online programs to create dynamic, long-distance programs and services. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree as well as 3-5 years of previous alumni relations management or similar experience is required.
