Research Economist

The BB&T Center for Economic and Community Development of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time position beginning fall 2010 as Research Economist.

The Wall College is AACSB-International accredited. There are currently 45 full-time faculty members in six academic disciplines: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Resort Tourism. The College also offers a graduate MBA program.

The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. in economics from an AACSB accredited business program with an emphasis, experience, and applied research in econometrics. The candidate should be able to conduct and write research reports on fee based studies in the following areas:

1) Economic impact and development,
2) Cost/benefit analyses for public and private projects,
3) Return-on-investment analyses for public and private projects,
4) Database development and maintenance of regional economic indicators,
5) Development, promotion, and publication of economic forecasts.

The candidate will also be a liaison with the business community of the region as well as state and local governments through presentations and community outreach activities.

The position is flexible to the applicant. The appointment could be a full-time 12 month, annually reviewed, non-tenure track lecturer position, or an 11 month tenure-track, full time faculty position. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. The tenure-track position requires research resulting in the publication of peer reviewed journal articles, national proceedings, and paper presentations.
