LABORATORY SUPERVISOR
Job Description: This position of Laboratory Supervisor is designed to support faculty in the delivery of both credit and non-credit laboratories associated with the teaching mission of the College of Technology and Computer Science (herein TECS).
Laboratory Supervisors report to the Lead Lab Supervisor, or the Dean's designee.
The Laboratory Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to, ensuring assigned laboratories are in working order, preparing laboratory facilities for laboratory sessions, assist with laboratory sessions under the direction of faculty, overseeing laboratory safety, and effectively communicating and coordinating all laboratory activities with the faculty.
The Laboratory Supervisor must be able to wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to hearing protection, head protection, gloves, aprons, welding protective gear, and applicable protective clothing.
They must be able to lift and handle items which weigh >35#. Must be able to push, pull, drag and otherwise physically handle material including but not limited to heavy machines, manual pallet jacks, palletized tools and equipment, and large crates and boxes.
Laboratory Supervisor must also be capable of becoming a certified operator of forklifts in the 6000# range, scissors lifts (35-ft height), jib cranes and other material handling equipment.
Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree in a technology field is required. A bachelor's degree with extensive experience may also be considered. All degrees should be from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred experience includes laboratory operations, experience in biochemistry wet labs, electronics and instrumentation, fabrication, welding, computer controlled mills and lathes, computer technology, and industrial experience
