The position will serve as the chief academic and student services officer for the College reporting to the President and working closely with the Vice President of Finance and Business and the Board of Trustees. Will provide oversight for assistant vice president of teaching, learning, and student development; executive director of institutional compliance and curriculum management; deans of liberal, visual and performing arts; communication and behavioral sciences; business and career technologies; math, science, engineering and health professions; adult education; academic development, learning resources and distance education; student development and enrollment management; and continuing education.
Will advise the President on matters relating to strategic planning, budget, grants, union issues, the employment of faculty and staff and accreditation as well as serve as executive staff to the Board of Trustees Committee on Teaching, Learning, and Student Development. Responsible for communicating and implementing the mission of the College to provide a student-centered learning environment focusing on student success.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and administer the total education, student support, student life, community service, and teaching and learning support programs of the College, coordinating the line activities with appropriate staff members.
- Oversee and coordinate the development of new academic programs/initiatives, including developmental education, and student services programs.
- Direct program accreditations and assist with institutional accreditation.
- Provide leadership in enrollment management initiatives.
- Direct allocation and use of fiscal resources within all academic and student services programs.
- Lead the infusion of diversity and global awareness in the content of academic programs and student services programs.
- Lead the development of technology and effective teaching/learning methodologies.
- Serve on negotiation teams and assist with the management of collective bargaining agreements.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with business, educational and community groups.
- Effectively communicate and develop positive rapport with all constituency groups of the College.
- Make presentations to the Board of Trustees as well as other community and constituency groups.
- Ensure academic program offerings meet emerging community needs and coordinate overall curriculum and submissions for approvals to appropriate agencies.
- Assist with the development of in-service programs for the instructional administrators and teaching faculty.
- Initiate improvement in the Teaching, Learning, and Student Development division through long-range planning and liaison with federal, state, and private agencies which support educational programs.
- Review recommendations for the selection, advancement, and retention of instructional and student services personnel recommending specific action to the President.
- Review the assignment of facilities and equipment for instructional use, including those of the Learning Resources Center, with the deans.
- Review budgetary requests with the deans and directors and determine the final budget recommendations to be made to the President.
- Coordinate with the various deans the articulation of the College instructional program with those of other institutions.
- Maintain liaison with Adult Vocational-Technical Education, Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Community College Board, and other agencies on matters relating to instruction.
- Assist in interpreting and conveying the programs of the College to the community and interested outside groups.
- In consultation with the faculty, prepare the College's academic calendar and present same to the President for approval.
- Evaluate and cause to evaluate personnel in instruction, student services, community services, and academic support service areas.
- Propose strategies on issues for the Board of Trustees. Serve on staff for the Board Committee on Teaching, Learning, and Student Development. Participate in open session and, as needed, in closed session Board meetings.
- Assist the President in implementing meaningful equal opportunity activities.

- Chair, VP Team and Dean's Council
- President's Cabinet

- Resource Development Team
- Accreditation Steering Committee
- Assist the President in coordinating the entire operations of the College and occasionally serve, when requested by the President, as acting President of the College.
In addition to an earned doctorate from an accredited college or university, the individual we select will possess progressive leadership and teaching experience in higher education.
