Senior Applications Developer

Description:
The Senior Application Developer will be responsible for implementing technology solutions as part of the University s Enterprise Systems group in order to support the university s technology-related needs. He/she will be a hands-on technical expert, with the ability to lead project teams and/or customers as needed.

Responsibilities
- Provides technology consulting on a regular basis to the areas supported for all phases of the project development cycle.
- Resolves problems presented by management, staff, and business users regarding work processes, policies, procedures, and methods.
- Architects, designs and implements applications/reports appropriate to business needs.
- Analyze and assess a buy vs. build vs. host decision based on strategic goals and business need.
- Works with internal and external customers in defining business needs and identifying cooperative relationships to improve business processes.
- Manages and/or implements development efforts for multiple high/medium/low priority projects simultaneously, with responsibility for requirements analysis, solution planning, design and development, managing project progress and reporting status in accordance with project lifecycle.
- Supports AU s Enterprise Systems and related platforms as needed.
- Works with a diverse team of analysts, developers, project managers, business users and third party solution providers/vendors to implement technology solutions.
- Ensures team adherence to enterprise standards and processes.
- Responsible for creating/updating system documentation as part of the project process.
Educational Requirements:
BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience/ training.
Minimum Requirements:
6+ years experience implementing medium and large scale projects, product integration and/or development systems.
Experience working with structured programming language and/or environment.
Experience with providing solution sets for broad customer or client base. Proven ability to meet deadlines, ability to multi-task effectively.
Proven track record developing and/or integrating applications in a Datatel or related database environment.
Excellent communication, analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with all levels of management, customers and vendors.
Demonstrates the ability to interface with a wide variety of users to determine business requirements. Has the ability to translate business requirements to efficient, useful applications.
Customer facing skills, ability to lead requirements discussions and trade-offs with business partners and vendors.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively managing priorities across multiple staff and academic units.
Availability after-hours to support staff as needed.
Desire & ability to learn and apply new skills/technologies quickly and efficiently.
Proactive, results-oriented and can-do attitude extremely desirable.
Demonstrate flexibility, with the ability to work with different business areas and new technologies as the team evolves and matures
Preferred Requirements:
Strong experience following SDLC and iterative processes, as well as understanding and active participation in change management procedures will be a plus.
Experience with Datatel s Colleague database will be considered a plus.
Understanding and experience with web technologies will be considered a plus
