Program Associate

The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), a national higher education organization committed to improving the quality of undergraduate education, seeks a bright, self-motivated, efficient, and creative individual for the position of Program Associate in the Office of Engagement, Inclusion, and Success (EIS). Position requires excellent communication, organizational, and research skills, and experience with budget management. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with diverse co-workers and members.

With more than 1200 college and university members, AAC&U works to improve the quality of undergraduate education with special attention to student learning, curriculum design, innovative pedagogies, and inclusive institutional policies. The EIS Office has three principal areas of focus: projects that engage state systems of higher education; projects engaging community colleges and working to advance student success along pathways from school to college; projects that emphasize high-impact learning for all students with particular attention to students under-represented in or underserved by higher education. EIS is the home office for AAC&U s Network for Academic Renewal conferences and shares in management of a number of conferences and institutes for faculty and administrators. The Program Associate will have responsibilities related to several of these areas, contributing to both programmatic and administrative operations, coordinating project activities, creating and reconciling budgets, and maintaining communication with faculty, staff, and administrators in the field through traditional correspondence and web-based social networking strategies.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and organizational skills; familiarity with the scholarship of inclusion, student success, and engaged teaching and learning; familiarity with internet technology, including web site maintenance and social networking; ability to work independently and as part of a team; attentive to detail but mindful of the big picture. Master s degree and at least three years of work experience (preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment) required. Some travel required.
