Part-time Office Assistant
Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Campus Manager and in cooperation with the Campus Assistant, registers students, assists customers, and performs other general clerical functions.
Responsibilities/Expectations/Accountability/Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or allinclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Demonstrates commitment to customer service standards
• Greets and assists students and other customers, schedules appointments, answers telephones.
• Assists students with registration and provides general course offering information.
• Communicates changes in class schedules.
• Performs general clerical functions, and provides basic clerical assistance to staff.
• Processes a variety of forms, collects and records fees.
• Responsible for building access and security.
• Relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds
• May direct activities of work study students
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of general office policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of English grammar, usage, and spelling.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite software and ability to operate other office equipment.
• Proficient skills in Excel, Word and Access preferred.
• Ability to create and maintain mail mergers, tables and charts in Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Candidate should be very detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to keep accurate records and prepare detailed reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person or orally and in writing with external and internal customers, college faculty, staff, and students.
• Ability to assist with marketing development such as flyers, brochures and mailings
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Employment with CVTC is contingent upon successful completion of background check(s).
Necessary Training and Experience:
• High school diploma
• Post-secondary training in related specialized courses
• One year of related experience.
• In evaluating candidates for this position, the College may consider a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Position Details
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible
Position Status: Part-time, non –union position working during the school year only (August – June)
Location: This position is located at the Menomonie Campus.
Work Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week. Hours will not exceed 17.5 on any given week. Work schedule anticipated to include 2 nights per week, scheduled sometime between the hours of 6:30-9:30 pm Monday – Thursday, and Saturday morning hours 7:45 am-1:00pm (when classes are scheduled). This position is customer-focused and will require the ability to adjust hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $14.62 based upon Pay Grade E, Step 1 of the 2009-2010 Staff and Clerical Federation Salary Schedule.
