Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) invites
applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice
Chancellor for Finance. S/he will lead the Universitys 160-member
Finance Division which provides comprehensive accounting and
financial management for the campus in close coordination with
the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost and the
financial leaders of the various Schools and Divisions of the
University.

The Associate Vice Chancellor reports to the Vice Chancellor for
Finance and Administration, who is the Universitys Chief Financial
Officer, and works in close partnership with this individual, the
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, and the Associate Provost
for Finance and Academic Planning in establishing, executing, and
monitoring the Universitys financial plans and strategies.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers the highest

Universitys fourteen colleges and schools provide instruction

as well as professional degrees in dentistry, medicine, pharmacy,
and law.

The Associate Vice Chancellor acts as a principal liaison between
the campus and various external entities related to financial
matters including the State Auditors Office, the Office of State
Budget and Management, the Department of State Treasurer, the
Department of Administrations Division of Purchasing & Contracts,
and the UNC System Chief Financial Officer. S/he provides
functional leadership for the finance portion of the Universitys
PeopleSoft Enterprise System implementation, which is presently
underway. S/he is also called upon to present financial issues to
the Board of Trustees, to participate in a wide variety of campus
and UNC System committees and working groups, and to serve as
an officer of several University affiliated foundations.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader and
manager with exceptional communication skills and unquestioned
integrity. S/he will be a good listener and problem solver, a
consensus builder, and a collaborative participant in campus
discussions. S/he will have a minimum of ten years of executive level
experience managing the full scope of accounting and
financial operations of a higher education institution of similar
scope and complexity as The University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill or in serving as the Chief Financial and Administrative
Officer of a medium size institution with an overall comparable
scope of responsibility. A bachelors degree in a related field is
required. A masters degree and/or a CPA is preferred. Salary will
