Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. In lieu of degree, four years of full time experience, or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four years may be considered. Minimum of two years related work experience in Web development/design, including one year experience working with MySQL server databases. The L.A.M.P. (Linus, Apache, MySql, and PHP) Programmer should have experience creating Web applications, using the Linux operating system, Apache Web servers, and the PHP programming language for work on two scientific research projects. Proven experience with multimedia and user interface design is necessary. Comprehensive experience with structuring, developing and implementing interactive websites; experience administering Apache on Linux servers. In-depth knowledge of Web technologies and protocols including HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, PHP and HTTP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills. Experience with software versioning systems, and experience with PHP, SQL databases and MySQL are required. Basic background in Biology.
Preferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of web technologies and protocols including ASP, NET, AJAX and JQUERRY. In-depth knowledge of programming language VB Net and .NET framework. Experience with Adobe Flex/Flash will strengthen a candidate s application. Experience with Subversion software versioning systems is preferred.
Brief Description of Duties: The incumbent will be responsible for Web database development and management.
- Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document Web applications using appropriate editors.
- Ensure security of all applications and websites.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and document problems with existing applications and websites.
- Assist in the maintenance of the various databases within the organization.
- Assist with developing policies and procedures for all applications.
- Assist with the planning of future enhancements for the various applications.
Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
