Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business or Science. One year of full time technical or administrative experience in a business setting.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Two years experience with research involving human subjects or administration of Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosures or any other experience in research administration.

Brief Description of Duties: Administration and support of all work conducted by the University-wide Standing Committee on Investigator Disclosure Review and Conflict of Interest (COI). Responsible for the overall management of the University's COI caseload by review of incoming disclosures, follow-up with investigators for clarifications, documentation of cases and points of relevance, preparation of all materials for the Committee's biweekly meetings (create agendas, post meeting and individual case materials to Teamroom, document the Committee's work via Minutes, write management plans for the Committee to issue to investigators and communicate the expectations to PI's, obtain signatures, update electronic tracking and database systems, report to sponsors), provide support to the Committee for policy and procedure development and electronic management of COI caseload.

Administration and support to the Committees on Research Involving Human Subjects including educational training of investigators conducting research involving human subjects. Responsible for assisting investigators with protocol documents, ensuring access and training investigators on the use of IRBNet, (ORC's (Office of Research Compliance) electronic routing and protocol submission system), serving as liaison between investigators, committees, members, sponsors, and regulatory compliance oversight agencies.

  • Administrator to the University s Investigator Disclosure/Conflict of Interest Committee. This includes scheduling, preparing, and attending meetings, electronic dissemination of meeting materials, assist in preparation of correspondence to investigators regarding resulting management plans
  • Administrator to the University s Institutional Review Boards (IRB), including reviewing all expedited and full review submissions to the boards for completeness, and for general review and assessment of compliance with local, federal regulations and ethical standards, drafting correspondence to investigators on behalf of the boards regarding board decisions, assigning reviewers as required, corresponding with the boards, attending IRB meetings.
  • Serve as liaison between the investigator and the boards, providing assistance regarding policies and procedures during the submission and approval processes.
  • Represent ORC and the IRB's in meetings.
  • Participate in training and educational efforts regarding conflict of interest and human research protections.
  • Maintain expertise in interpretation of federal regulations and guidance, to ensure best practices at the local level (and modifying the SOP's as required.)
  • Other duties as assigned, including IRB and compliance functions and/or assignment by the COI committee Chair or Vice President for Research.


Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
