ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR MARKETING, ASSESSMENT, AND STRATEGIES

Job Description: Student Affairs actively supports the University's missions of education, research, and service by providing comprehensive programs and services to assist each student in developing intellectually, socially, morally, and culturally. The Division anticipates students' developmental needs throughout their collegiate experiences and promotes students' development by fostering a community of learning, which encourages individual student involvement and participation. Student Affairs provides a broad range of support services, activities, and programs that seek to:

Assist student in developing respect and appreciation for individual differences, interpersonal civility, and human rights.
Enhance the learning environment, facilitate retention, and optimize the student experience.
Accommodate the diverse needs of all students.
Support a community environment that is welcoming, safe, and secure.
Assist students in meeting their basic needs for housing, nutrition, and physical and emotional well-being.
Provide the means for students to become active participants and leaders in their own learning.
Assist students in developing logical thought processes and sound decision-making skills.
Assist students in developing an appreciation of the arts.

Moreover, Student Affairs seeks to contribute to the development of the whole individual by fostering in each student a deeper appreciation of the importance of life-long learning, individual responsibility, and human diversity. Through collaboration Student Affairs provides programs and services that are grounded in theory, assessment, and sound practice.

The Strategic Planning & Initiatives area within Campus Recreation & Wellness and Student Activities provides a strategic and integrated approach to effectively promote, market, and evaluate departmental programs and services. Student leadership opportunities are maximized through various employment positions, internships, and graduate assistantships.

The Associate Director for Marketing, Assessment, and Strategic Initiatives has administrative responsibilities in promotional development and implementation, sponsorship, personnel management, strategic planning, fiscal accountability, staff development, data analysis and assessment. This position coordinates a comprehensive marketing program for Campus Recreation and Wellness and Student Involvement and Leadership targeted at the entire university community, as well as the general public and various businesses and corporations. Periodic marketing reports, sponsorship proposals, and annual and semi annual reviews of various marketing mediums, programs, facilities, and equipment are submitted. The Associate Director supervises two Graduate Assistants, and 20-25 part-time student staff in leadership positions. The Associate Director has contact with a diverse populace both on and off campus. He/she deals with the general public, the University community, volunteer groups, businesses/corporations and professionals. The position deals with sensitive issues including discipline of student employees who have demonstrated unsatisfactory work or inappropriate behavior. Likewise the position will have significant impact upon the image of Campus Recreation & Wellness and Student Involvement and Leadership through the visibility associated with being a public representative of the departments in numerous events and activities.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Business Marketing, Sports Administration, Leisure/Recreation or Physical Education, College Student Personnel or related field from an appropriately accredited institution.
Demonstrated ability to supervise student staff.
Demonstrated experience with fiscal management of a comprehensive promotional program.
Knowledge of an integrated and/or strategic planning process, effective data analysis, and market research experience essential to be effective.
