The Department of Human Genetics at The University of Chicago is seeking a physician- scientist to complement the strengths of the basic science and clinical components of the Department. The clinical component of the Department includes a wide range of clinics including pediatric genetics, craniofacial, Marfan, and neurogenetics clinics, in addition to affiliated clinics with ophthalmology, maternal fetal medicine, and cancer genetics. We also have full service in-house diagnostic laboratories in molecular and cytogenetics. Clinical genetic research emphasis at the University includes cardiovascular, neurology, cancer, and common disease (diabetes, asthma, autism) genetics. The Department has existing strengths in the genetics of common diseases, comparative genomics, mouse and other model system genetics, human evolutionary and population genetics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics and pharmacogenetics. We are recruiting ABMG board certified or board eligible M.D. and M.D./Ph.D. faculty, with a preference for candidates who qualify for appointment on the tenure track, who are eligible for medical licensure in the state of Illinois, and, who will complement the existing program and participate in research, clinical service, and teaching. Successful candidates will be expected to develop/have and maintain a strong, extramurally funded, research program.
