Chatt G. Wright, who has provided visionary leadership as the President of Hawaii Pacific University for over 40 years, has announced his retirement. The Board of Trustees now invites nominations and applications for the new President.
Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) was chartered in 1965 as Hawaii Pacific College, a private liberal arts college. Today, HPU is the largest private university in the central Pacific and is most noted for its diverse student body of over 8,000 students, representing over 100 countries. Its innovative undergraduate and graduate programs anticipate the changing needs of the community and prepare HPU graduates to live, work and learn as active members of a global society.
HPUs two main campuses include the downtown Honolulu campus with primarily business, liberal arts and other programs and the Hawaii Loa campus, located on the windward side of Oahu housing the majority of the science programs, nursing, and other programs. HPUs Military Campus Programs operate classrooms and offices on Oahus many U.S. military bases. The Oceanic Institute is an affiliate located on the windward side of the island providing students with access to significant research programs in the marine and oceanic sciences.
Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the new President will lead HPU into a new era of defining HPUs aspirations, expanding its resource base, and fulfilling its promise of academic quality and excellence.
