Training & Edu Course Developer Aging Programs

Campus Description: Stony Brook University, home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and co-manager of nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory, a multidisciplinary research laboratory supporting world class scientific programs utilizing state-of-the-art facilities. Stony Brook University Medical Center is Suffolk County's only academic medical center and tertiary care provider. Many opportunities exist for collaborative research, and in some cases, joint appointments with BNL or with Medical School departments.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree. A minimum of 15 years experience in a senior position with a major healthcare provider, a public policy research institute of government agency. Possess extensive knowledge of age-related subjects including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Senior Housing, and long-term care financial issues. Experience and background in the identification and prevention of elder abuse, financial exploitation and identity theft. Must have developed materials such as programs and PowerPoint presentations. Experience in designing continuing education training and education programs for a wide range of disciplines, including social work, nursing and legal professions. Experience in public speaking who can also coordinate and facilitate complex training and education programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Authored books and publications on age-related subjects.

Responsibilities & Requirements: The Course Developer will design, develop and facilitate training and education programs on an ongoing basis that address a wide range of issues associated with "Aging in America".

Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position. Anticipated start date: September 1, 2010.
