CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR

Job Description: The Department of Physical Therapy in the ECU College of Allied Health Sciences is currently seeking candidates for the full-time, fixed term position of Clinical Instructor. This position is located at the newly formed ECU Physical Therapy clinic adjacent to the ECU Neurosurgery and Spine Center. This position will perform the duties and responsibilities of a licensed physical therapist and clinical instructor in accordance with established policies and procedures. This will include: patient examination, evaluation, intervention, goal writing, and physical therapy diagnosis and prognosis. In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a licensed physical therapist, the employee will be given the option to assist with teaching in the graduate PT program based on their area of expertise. The qualified candidate will be expected to be an active participant of the ECU Physical Therapy faculty by assisting with lab practicals, marketing their expertise, and continuing to develop a successful clinic.

The qualified candidate is expected to interact on a professional level with the neurosurgeons and other ECU physicians. Candidates must be qualified to see a variety of patients with both musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pathologies. An interest in the examination, evaluation, and intervention of spine impairments and chronic pain is preferred. The qualified candidate is expected to be involved in the patient interactions and healthcare functions as previously stated. The candidate should understand and progress toward managing the clinical operations of the ECU clinic.

This position serves in a clinical instructor role for patients, physical therapists and other staff at ECU Physical Therapy to optimize ECU Physical Therapy practice policies and procedures. These functions require 100% of the employees' time and effort.


Minimum Qualifications: The qualified candidate must have graduated from a CAPTE accredited university or college and possess a BA, BS, MSPT, MPT, or DPT degree. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Manual therapy experience is preferred by not mandatory.

License or Certification Required by Statue or Regulation: Current North Carolina Physical Therapist license or eligible for application. All qualified applicants are to be in good standing with APTA and maintain a current CPR certification.
