ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Job Description: East Carolina University (ECU) is seeking applications for the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, this position serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor within the Office of Human Resources and represents the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources in his/her absence. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating and providing oversight on all personnel matters associated with non-faculty positions Exempt from the Personnel Act (EPA-NF) including SAAO positions, and collaborating with representatives in the Academic Affairs and Health Affairs divisions on EPA faculty personnel matters as necessary. The Assistant Vice Chancellor has delegated campus-wide authority to commit the university in regard to EPA administration activities and serves as a primary liaison between ECU and UNC-GA on EPA matters.

The successful candidate would possess the highest degree of personal integrity, a strong service orientation and excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should be able to operate independently, coupled with the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality.

ECU, the third largest institution of higher learning and one of 17 institutions in the UNC system, is a comprehensive university with undergraduate, graduate, dental medicine and medicine programs and is classified as Doctoral/Research University-Intensive. University enrollment is 27,000 students, including both on-campus and distance-learning populations. The university employs approximately 6,000 individuals that include nearly 2,400 faculty. ECU serves as a focal point and leader for higher education in eastern North Carolina and state-wide. The campus is located in Greenville, the business, medical, cultural, and educational hub of eastern North Carolina. The health sciences campus is adjacent to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Greenville has a population of 89,000 and is located 75 miles east of Raleigh and is within easy driving distance of beautiful North Carolina beaches.


Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration or a related field, with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in one or more of the functional areas of human resources is required.
