Practitioner (or Executive) in Residence of Business and Diversity
Cameron School of Business
This is a full-time (during the academic year and a minimum of 160 hours in the summer) non-tenure track teaching position that will reside within a Cameron School of Business (CSB) academic department with an accompanying focused service leadership component. The teaching component for Fall and Spring semesters is expected to be 2 or 3 courses each semester depending upon the extent of the service component in that semester. The service component will be to help lead the Cameron School of Business s efforts related to diversity and multi-cultural understanding, planning, programs, recruitment and student graduation. The individual will be expected to (1) work closely with CSB faculty, staff and students, (2) help lead the CSB s Youth Entrepreneurship Program, and (3) coordinate CSB efforts with the UNCW Offices of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Diversity and Human Resources.
To qualify, the applicant must be able to show that he/she is Professionally Qualified:
1. Have an MBA or other suitable graduate degree.
2. Demonstrate significant personal and/or professional leadership and/or management involving diversity and/or multi-cultural matters. If not currently in such a position, the applicant must demonstrate such involvement within the last three years.
Experience in developing contacts in the business community and previous teaching experience at the university level is a plus. The qualifications above would describe a Professional in Residence. An individual with recognized leadership within his/her industry and/or profession with a distinguished record of achievements may qualify for Executive in Residence designation. The selected candidate will be expected to meet usual teaching and sustained professional involvement expectations ordinarily associated with a Practitoner (or Executive) in Residence.
This position is expected to be the catalyst to strengthen the CSB s strategies and efforts in attracting and securing a more diverse, multi-cultural student body, faculty and staff and in achieving a more diverse portfolio of individuals participating within the CSB as guest speakers for courses, Business Week speakers, and mentors with the Cameron Executive Network. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Salary will range from $45,000 to $55,000 for the academic year plus 1/9th of the academic year salary for the summer 160 hour commitment (succeeding summers may result in an additional 1/9th salary).
