Associate Director of the Practice of Ministry and Mission

Wesley Theological Seminary seeks an Associate Director of Practice of Ministry and Mission (PMM), Wesley's contextual education program, to begin July 1, 2011. The selected person will join a team that oversees Wesley's contextual education program and will share teaching responsibilities in related fields. Rank open and determined by qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
* M.Div. degree;
* Ph.D., Th.D. or Ed.D. preferred;
* Demonstrated skill in program administration;
* Familiarity with contextual education or supervised ministry programs;
* Teaching experience preferred, especially in contextual education distance education;
* Experience in ministry, especially in rural congregations, youth ministry, international missions or the emerging church. Ordination preferred;
* Expertise and ability to teach in an area of ministerial practice or congregational studies;
* International and cross-cultural experience;
* Familiarity with instructional technology;
* Familiarity with Korean culture and language would be an asset.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of PMM will be expected to work collegially with the Director of PMM, another Associate Director of PMM, the Program Administrator of PMM, members of the faculty, experienced pastoral leaders, and student peer groups. The Associate Director will:
* Have primary responsibility for coordinating intercultural immersions;
* Provide significant involvement in other areas of PMM-notably Wesley's Student Pastor Program;
* Equip and resource faculty colleagues as well as clergy and lay learning partners in places of ministry for contextual education;
* Meet with and advise students regarding their placements in ministerial internships and their intercultural immersions, and facilitate those placements and immersions;
* Teach and facilitate theological reflection colloquies and teach other classes in ministry;
* Conduct site visits.

Candidates for this position are expected to share the Seminary's commitment to the life of the church and its ministries and to contribute to the visionary work of preparing the next generation of effective leaders for the church. Teaching at Wesley requires the ability to work effectively with those of diverse backgrounds (race/ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, age, theological perspective). Personal qualities of collegiality, creativity and ability to communicate well are highly valued.
