PROJECT STEPP SPECIALIST

Job Description: Specialist-Project STEPP. Nine-month full-time, stated definite term, non-faculty position in the College of Education at East Carolina University available immediately. Project STEPP (Supporting Transition and Education Through Planning and Partnerships) is a program designed to support access and retention for selected postsecondary students at East Carolina University who have identified learning disabilities.
Responsibilities include: delivering Project STEPP coursework; conducting subject-specific study halls for student participants to reinforce connections between strategies and skills taught in Project STEPP coursework and content and assignments from courses in each student's regular academic schedule; monitoring and supporting program tutors, including providing training and feedback regarding tutoring sessions and activities; and working closely with the Project STEPP Director, Assistant Director, and Transition Specialist to monitor and revise curriculum as needed. Position will require establishing and following a consistent daily schedule; being accessible to students participating in Project STEPP during the fall and spring semesters; participating in student advising efforts as appropriate; and collaborating with offices and programs across campus in order to support Project STEPP students.


Minimum Qualifications: Requires strong communication skills (written, oral, and listening); strong planning, organization, and interpersonal skills; successful experience teaching students with learning disabilities; and successful related prior experience. Master's degree in learning disabilities or related area from an appropriately accredited institution required. Valid special education (GC or LD) teaching license preferred.
