Position Summary:
Performs a variety of functions that assists the Accountancy Programs Director with academic and administrative support operations of the department
Essential Functions:
Provides clerical and office support to Accountancy Programs and Director of Accountancy including typing, filing, phone work, mass mailings, data gathering and database entry work as assigned.
Prepares program support materials for Accountancy Programs.
Provides MSA admissions support and maintains spreadsheets and files for MSA Admissions Committee.
Works in Wake Information Network; printing class roster, researching alumni information, etc.
Provides administrative support to the program; types memos, maintains office supplies inventory, plans travel arrangements for Director of Accountancy as needed.
Maintains knowledge of library databases (ProQuest and Lexis Nexis) in order to research journal articles.
Prepares shipping materials through all shipping outlets, such as FedEx, DHL and UPS.
Greets visitors, responds to questions from students and visitors.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: High school diploma plus specialized training with three years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of associate degree preferred. Experience with university environment preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
General knowledge of office management techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, the Internet (special orders) and ability to operate peripheral office equipment.
Ability to type 45 wpm accurately.
Ability to make travel arrangements, and complete appropriate University forms for reimbursement.
Ability to research and resolve office procedural issues.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to handle large mailings and related mailing databases.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written; strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain pleasant customer service attitude.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to update skills on a continual basis.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
