Syracuse University invites applications and nominations of outstanding candidates for the Falcone Real Estate Chair in the Whitman School of Management.

Founded in 1919, the Martin J. Whitman School of Management is dedicated to fostering a diverse, supportive learning community focused on developing entrepreneurial managers who will become leaders in an era of global competitiveness and technological advancements; advancing the theory and practice of management by discovering and disseminating relevant knowledge and contributing perspectives on frontline business issues; and providing students and faculty select educational experiences that promote intellectual engagement, personal and professional growth, and lifelong scholarship. The Whitman School has 80 full-time faculty and is home to 1,765 undergraduate students as well as 82 full-time MBA, 251 iMBA students, and 30 Ph.D. students. The undergraduate program ranked #38 and the Graduate Entrepreneurship Program ranked #15 in U.S. News and World Report.

Syracuse University has set an aggressive agenda to enhance the real estate program at Whitman. Through comprehensive real estate courses and significant interaction with industry professionals, the real estate program in the Whitman School provides students with the knowledge and skills required to compete successfully in the real estate industry while contributing to the professional and scholar advancement of the industry.

The Falcone Chair offers an opportunity to build a real estate brand within Whitman and the University and nationally. The James D. Kuhn Real Estate Center serves as an inspirational catalyst for faculty activities in real estate, gives students the opportunity to integrate their education in finance with an education in real estate, and provides real estate professionals with training and resources to support and facilitate research on real estate.

The Falcone Real Estate Chair will have an earned doctorate and a strong record of research, teaching, and leadership in real estate. She/he will be an associate or full professor at a university where teaching, research, and scholarship are highly valued. Experience in real estate business outside of the academy is desirable. The successful candidate will engage in leading research, strive for excellence in teaching, and mentor students and junior faculty.
