Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Dean of The George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). The Dean is the educational leader and chief administrator for this nationally and internationally influential school located in Washington, D.C. Strategic investments made over the past decade in state-of-the-art facilities, world-renowned faculty, top-tier students, and superior career services have elevated the school into the top fifty business schools in the country. The Dean, working with the faculty and staff, will provide the vision and strategic leadership necessary to move the school to the next level.
Founded in 1821, The George Washington University is located just blocks from the White House. The university collaborates with numerous national and international business organizations. In addition to the Foggy Bottom Campus, there are GW campuses in northwest DC and northern Virginia. The university has approximately 25,000 full- and part-time students, of whom approximately 60% are pursuing graduate degrees. These students represent all 50 states and more than 130 countries. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classifies The George Washington University as a research university (high research activity).
The GWSB was established in 1928 and comprises the departments of Accountancy, Decision Sciences, Finance, Information Systems & Technology Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Strategic Management & Public Policy, and Tourism & Hospitality Management. The GWSB offers two bachelor degree programs, a Masters in Business Administration, five specialized masters degree programs, and a Ph.D in Business Administration along with three graduate certificate programs. The school is home to nearly 4000 students from around the world and 128 full time faculty members from 74 countries. The GWSB is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
Qualified candidates for the position of Dean must possess an earned doctorate in a business or related discipline from an accredited institution. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of academic achievement and scholarship; a commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service to students and the academic community; demonstrated senior level leadership and administrative experience; a commitment to fundraising; a demonstrated commitment to shared governance; and a demonstrated commitment to enhancing the global profile of an organization.
