Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (the College) seeks a strategic, inspirational leader as its next President. The College provides educational access and opportunity for a rewarding technical career to a broad, regionally diverse student body. Its high-tech high-touch approach to lifelong learning has recently produced remarkable results and is slowly gaining recognition throughout the Boston community. Graduation statistics show 54% of its students completing their program within three years which is twice the national average for two-year colleges and three times greater than the graduation rate of two-year colleges in Massachusetts. Upon graduation, 70% of students are prepared for immediate employment (over 85% are employed within 6 months within their field) and 30% pursue a Bachelor s degree with fully transferable credits at colleges with which the College has articulation agreements. In order to continue this upward trajectory during this critical period of institutional evolution, the College needs a President who can raise its profile and take it to the next level.

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology was created by a bequest from the inventor, scientist, gifted diplomat and printer, Benjamin Franklin, to the inhabitants of the Towne of Boston to realize his vision to create good apprentices [who] are likely to make good citizens . That gift later attracted a matching gift from the industrialist, Andrew Carnegie, to build the College. Its doors opened in 1908 at its current site in Boston s historic South End neighborhood. Today, the College has evolved its core course offerings of Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology to a contemporary curriculum that reflects the rapidly changing industry and business demands and the world of technology. The College currently enrolls 630 students in its one Bachelor and numerous Associate degrees and certificate programs. Students are educated and nurtured by 70 dedicated, full and part-time faculty members and supported by 30 committed, administrative staff.

The Board of Trustees seeks a highly committed, innovative and collaborative leader who will guide the College at a time of tremendous opportunity and great momentum. As the chief executive for the College, the President will strengthen partnerships and relationships with area businesses, government, foundations, philanthropists, alums, and other educational institutions and organizations, while also attracting financial resources from diverse sources to advance the success of students and the College. Candidates for the position should possess a Master s degree, an earned Doctorate preferred; a track record of success in technical education administration and/or in management of a technical business; facility with strategic planning, adept supervision of operations, fiscal management and planning, along with supervision and management of a team of talented, motivated professionals; experience with planning and implementing a fundraising strategy; and, capacity to work successfully with a Board of Trustees.
