Department Chair of Health Promotion

The School of Health, Kinesiology and Sport Studies in the College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Chair in the Department of Health Promotion. The chair, reporting to both school director and college dean, is an 11 month appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, and carries a 50% reduction in teaching load.

The department offers an undergraduate degree in health promotion which has SAPBAC program approval, approximately 250 majors, six full-time faculty members, seven part-time faculty, and one staff member. The college is developing new programs, initiatives and facilities in areas of public and community health, allied health, and the health sciences. The successful candidate will help lead and coordinate new areas of development.

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in public health, previous administrative experience, a history of teaching excellence, a strong research/scholarly agenda, evidence of leadership in working with faculty, students and administration in developing new initiatives, and experience with institutional/program assessment and accreditation standards to oversee maintenance of SABPAC program approval. Other duties include coordination of the academic program, continuing a cordial and collegial work environment, maintaining and creating linkages to improve community health, evaluating and managing personnel, providing leadership in innovative curriculum development, budget planning, student recruitment, advisement, facilities management, and serving as liaison to the administration, the community, and the State.
