A staff position is available at the Illinois Board of Higher Education. The Board has responsibilities for policy, academic program, and fiscal analysis of higher education issues in Illinois and for the implementation of the Illinois Public Agenda for College and Career Success. Primary responsibilities include reviewing and recommending approval for operating authority and new academic degree programs at public and independent colleges and universities and for conducting periodic reviews of previously approved degree programs. Other responsibilities include researching education policy issues that support the goals of the Public Agenda, reviewing program modification requests, and conducting orientations for new institutions. This position works collaboratively with institutional academic leadership, other education agency representatives and institutional representatives.
The position requires strong analytic and communication skills (oral and written), a working knowledge of alternative delivery modalities, and the ability to work independently and as a team member. Minimum qualifications include a master s degree (doctorate preferred) and three years of academic or administrative experience at a college or university.
